A City With Blue Lights and Stones - Part 28

Opelucid City is a futuristic looking city filled with irising doors and blue-electric looking walkways and lights. 

It only took what felt like years to get here, especially after all of the backtracking that I had to do, but I'm finally here and so is Alder.

He leads me to a street preacher of sorts... 

... Ghetsis and his Team Plasma lackeys. 

He says lots of big words and eventually says that humans are weak and Pokémon are strong. They all pack up their TP signs and walk away like a bunch of goons.

Iris pops up with an older gent named Drayden.

This man and this little girl apparently know everything that there is to know about Reshiram and Zekrom. We begin to ask them and they tell us about these legendary dragons. 

They tell us that they actually do not like to fight each other.

And soon after they tell us Alder gets emotional and goes off to the Pokémon League to get ready for N. 

Iris tries to drag me to her house to talk to herself and Drayden at greater lengths, but I have some exploring to do. 

I find a Battle Rotation House and get some training under my belt, but not much else. 

I head off to Route 10, which means a new area to catch a new teammate!

I run into a double battle with a Herdier and a Vullaby.

With double battles I am able to decide which Pokémon I want to catch. I can either choose the evolution of Zkippy or a brand new Dark/Flying-type. This could be good, especially if I keep losing against Fighting-types. 

I catch the bird and look at the next name on the list. Pumpernickel. 

Pumpernickel doesn't fit as a name so I modify it to be Pumprnickl.

With the new Pokémon in hand I am able to go further out and snag myself a TM for Roar, Dawn Stone and a much needed Dusk Stone. 

Why do I need that stone? Because Licky needs it to evolve. 

I use the stone...

Licky is now Chandelure! A massively strong special attacker.

With these two new 'mons in my party I head off to Route 9 to get some training with bikers and to visit the massive mall sized mart, which... there is nothing of value inside other than a few trainers. 

I decide that it is finally time to continue with the story and I knock on Iris and Drayden's door.

My Past Even Gets Jelly - Part 27

The location that I am starting us off at is Driftveil City.

I head towards the water with Racksy newly learning Surf and head into the water for a single reason.

To catch a brand new Pokémon and the first that appears is a...

A Frillish! I can deal with that! It's a Water/Ghost-type, so actually... this will be the third Ghost-type that I have...

Great... my team is getting stacked with not just Dark-types and Ghost-types.

I catch the level 10 jellyfish and go to the next name on the list, which is actually Royal. So it fits extra perfectly.

I head into some super intense training for Royal. 

30 levels worth of training. That's enough until...

Royal evolves into Jellicent!

I finally continue to make my way forward to get to Opelucid City after the long training session and back to Route 8.

There's a massive blizzard going on here and that reminds me to buy the TM at the Mart. Which is exactly what I do. 

I save it in my inventory for later.

I'm about to finally reach the end of Route 8 when Bianca comes up to me and orders a battle from me! I'll give her a heaping plate full of battle if she really wants it.

Bianca has four Pokémon, which is what seems to be her limit.

She sends out a Stoutland, which would have been the final evolution of Zkippy...

I have Royal out first, but get nervous about any Dark-type moves he may have. I switch to Xanadu and her Stoutland uses Work Up. The blizzard conditions aren't the greatest to fight under and Hail hits them both. Xanadu is quite tired of the cold and Brick Breaks Stoutland which makes him pass out.

Next up, is her Simisage, which I send out Licky to counter. Licky is hit by Leer, but ends the round with a Flame Burst. 

Bianca's next is her Emboar, which Royal wants a part of... Royal lets a strong Water Pulse go, but it isn't quite enough. Bianca must have thought something like this would have happened and I'm hit by a massive Assurance. Gladly, Royal's Cursed Body activates and disables Assurance, which is great. Hail hits us, but Royal's Brine takes out the rest of her Emboar and he goes down hard.

Her last mon is Musharna which Xanadu practically laughs at and is already knocked out.

She follows up the battle with some compliments to me and hands me a few Full Restores, which will be useful on things like Victory Road... if I ever make it that far.

Route 8 leads to Tubeline Bridge, which is just a giant bridge with tons of traffic underneath it. It does however give me an okay TM for Flame Charge. 

But at the end of the bridge...

Lying in wait...

Team Plasma's ninjas. They take my arms and lead me to Ghetsis. Ghetsis starts talking like he usually does, which means it's time to tune him out. But I do remember hearing about legends and heroes and how everything that I am doing is for naught. 

I also pick up that he trained and educated N, which is a little scary to think about.

He continues to talk about how only Team Plasma will be able to use Pokémon and then tells me that I am not worthy enough.

With that Ghetsis leaves me and as do the ninjas.

I'm left alone to go to Route 9, where a person literally throws a TM at me, which contains Fling.

I see lots of biker dudes around here, which means new training, but I also see... grass! That's a new area, which means new Pokémon!

I head directly into it and...

It's Conch! Or at least a Pokémon that looks like him...

I catch it, but it is no replacement for the original. The newest edition to my potential team is named the next name on the list. Chowchow. 

With that... I finally take my first steps into Opelucid City.

A Boring Post About The Story - Part 26

I've traveled. And traveled. It feels like I even traveled further then that... It feels like forever...

But I've finally made it to the place that Alder wanted me to go to. Relic Castle. This is where I caught Odessa so many moons ago. Cheren is actually waiting outside of the ruins...

Time to get ready to beat him into the ground...

Wait... what do you mean?!

Cheren... doesn't want to fight...?!

I head into Relic Castle and find Ryoku (who is one of the seven sages) and tells me that I have to fight my way through the Relic Castle. I can do that... right?

I find a TM I had been looking for, for a while. It's for Shadow Ball. I immediately teach it to Licky. 

Ghetsis and Alder are all the way at the bottom of these ruins and they are deep in conversation. I don't understand most of it, but... he does end the conversation by tell me and Alder that he thinks that we are working very hard on finding Reshiram and that if I want to save the world I will need to find him.

He then begins to talk to Alder about the Pokémon that Alder had and how it died... 

Alder had a Pokémon die, just like my own. It's still sad to hear however...

I find out while he was mourning his Pokémon friend by wandering the world and not doing his duties as a Pokémon Champion. Ghetsis throws some extra salt into Alder's wounds by saying that N is much stronger than him and then plows his way through us and out of the ruins. 

That leaves Alder and myself alone in the bottom of this sand castle. Alder takes me out, without having to backtrack (which is a nice touch) and we are outside.

My transiever begins to ring and it's Juniper telling me that I have to go to back to the second gym of the game. The gym with the museum, where Team Plasma tried to steal the bones of a dragon, which were totally Dragonite. 

I make my way slowly backwards through the desert and cities and forest, which seems like a ton of stuff now that I think about it. And I'm finally where Professor Juniper asked me to be. 

Outside the gym are the Junipers, Alder, Bianca and Lenora. 

Lenora, who seems to like me a lot, even though I destroyed her with Conch so very long ago, gives me an item called a Light Stone. She then begins to tell me that this stone will awaken Reshiram somehow. 

Then she more or less tells me that Team Plasma was in the right place at the right time to steal the things needed to awaken Reshiram, but just took the incorrect thing. 

Cedric then comes up to me and asks me how to revive the dragon.

Aren't you supposed to know that?

Then I'm told that I must go to Opelucid City and Alder flies off without me.

I wish I could fly on a Pokémon myself sometimes...

Bianca then in all of her splendid glory comes up to me after this long post about the story to finish it up with a bang.

"Oh that sounds really serious... that's about all I got out of that."

You Can't Spell Dragon Without N - Part 25

Let's skip ahead a little bit. I'm currently inside Dragon Spiral Tower. 

There is a huge explosion from up above, but I don't know from what. I head further upstairs and find Cheren hoping along some ancient pillars. 

What is he doing? He'll break his neck up there!

I follow his lead and eventually run into a room where Cheren and Brycen are fighting a bunch of Team Plasma grunts. They tell me to go on ahead. 

Like I need to be told twice...

I realize that there is a bunch of trainers and higher-ish level Pokémon up here so I can train up my weaker ones, like Bigguns. 

I send him out against a Team Plasma memeber who kills it with a critcal hit from a High Jump Kick.

Well... that's great... I was hoping to use this tiny tick to take some initiative later on in the game. Try to keep it together. 

I get nervous about training here and beat up the rest of the grunts with Licky and Xanadu. They don't even break a sweat. 

I even get feel another explosion from higher in the tower. The whole place is shaking a lot. 

Suddenly an old man named Giallo, which is actually also a great form of Italian thrillers in cinema, reveals himself as a sage. He was making a speech to his grunts, but I interrupt him and suddenly I'm surrounded by four grunts at once. All of them ready to fight me.

I sweep them all easily without trying myself or my Pokémon too much.

I head upstairs and there he is... N is standing with a black Dragon.

He tells me that he now has the power to take on the Pokémon Champion and rid the humans of the world of enslaving Pokémon. He then proceeds to tell me that the only way to defeat his plan is to use Reshiram, which needs to be awoken. 

Zekrom then starts to fly around and swoops in and snatches N off of the ground and flies away for good. 

Cheren and Brycen finally beat the couple of trainers that they were fighting a while ago and tell me that we all need to gather our forces to beat N. We meet up with Cedric who is surprised that Zekrom is real and he seems a little scared to be honest.

Even Alder joins us and says that he is scared of N. Mostly because Zekrom and Reshiram both nearly destroyed the world... by themselves. He thinks that it is a very, very good idea to go out and find Reshiram before Team Plasma tries to and to defeat N. 

The only thing is that no one has any clue as to where to find Reshiram. 

We all decide to go to the oldest place we can think of to look for clues. 

Odessa's home. Relic Castle. 

But first!

I head onto Route 8 before leaving, looking to find a replacement for Bigguns. 

The first Pokémon I come across in this area is a...

Oh... great...

It's a Stunfisk. It's a Ground/Electric-type. It's not the best... but it will have to do for now. Plus it's also it has Electric moves, which will be good in replacement of Bigguns and Cowface...

I name the guy Racksy.

After capturing him I head into the Moors of Icirrus, which is also a new area, but all that I can really find in here are Stunfisk as well, since everything is frozen at the moment, due to winter. I head out and get ready for the long trek back to Relic Castle (since I cannot use Fly at this time).

I decide that back tracking will be a great time to train Pokémon.

Gregford is up first and is slowly taking things out in Twist Mountain as we head through it. He can even hold his own against Ice-types, because he has a Fighting-move.

That is... until a wild Vanillish take him out in a critical, super effective hit...

I feel a little bad at losing him, but I hadn't grown super attached to him. It's either that or I'm becoming comfortably numb to all the death in this Nuzlocke. 

After heading through Twist Mountain I decide that I should go visit my old Audino training grounds to help boost some levels.
